The Roy Clark/Bank of Lincoln County field house at Lincoln County High School is getting some long overdue attention thanks to the efforts of the Falcon Football Booster Club.
The facility was constructed as a result of funds raised from a Roy Clark concert back in the mid 1980’s. The weight room addition was spearheaded by Lincoln County Bank in 1992.
“We feel like some attention to the facility is long overdue,” said Falcon Football Booster Club President John Richardson. “We’ve ordered all new weights that are on their way, and we want to do some upkeep on the building as well.
“We’re running a drive called ‘100 for 100’,” Richardson continued. “We’re looking for 100 people or organizations to donate $100 for the improvements. Every penny earmarked for such will go into the facility.
“We’re looking at refurbishing the bathrooms that are used by the public throughout the year, as well the weight and dressing rooms,” Richardson added. “We hope to do some work to the heating and air as well – it’s my understanding only one unit is working now.
“We see the facilities at the other schools we compete against, and we know there is a lot of work to be done.”
“We want something the boys can be proud of,” said LCHS Principal Jacob Sorrells. “We’ve been doing some painting and some landscaping. We’d like to have the weight room in good shape by the Lift-A-Thon and the building completed by Media Day. We very much appreciate what the Falcon Football Club is doing to improve the facility.”
