Falcons down Rebs, fall to Trojans

Lincoln County’s Falcons picked up a district win at home over Franklin County Friday night. On Monday, LCHS went down on the road to Hazel Green.
In District 8-AAA standings, Tullahoma leads at 8-0. Lincoln County is 6-2; Lawrence County, 5-3; Columbia, 3-5; Franklin County and Shelbyville, 1-7.
The 70-63 win over the Rebels gave Coach Chad Tipps his 101st win while leading the Falcons.
Friday night, Lincoln County had to come from behind for the victory after trailing all of the first half.
LCHS was down 15-8 at the end of the first quarter.
The Falcons won the second frame, 18-16, led by Justin Blackwell who scored 8 points in the period. The Rebels were up 31-26 at the break.
With 6:29 in the third, B.J. Thompson was fouled while making a basket and dropped a shot from the line, knotting the game at 34-34. After eight lead changes, Tradarius Christian hit a three at the buzzer, putting the Falcons up 51-47. Lincoln County would not trail again.
B.J. Thompson poured in 12 points in the fourth, and the Falcons won the period 19-16 for the win.
Thompson led for Lincoln County with 27. Justin Blackwell had 15; Xavier Talley-Hyde and Ty Hadley had 8; Tradarius Christian, 7; and Tyler Jones had 3.

The Falcons were 21 of 35 from the paint and 6 of 14 from the arch. From the line, LCHS was 10 of 14.
Talley-Hyde had 3 from long range while Hadley, Christian and Jones had one.
Franklin County finished with 17 turnovers, and the Falcons picked up 31 points off the miscues.
Monday night of last week the Falcons went down to the Alabama powerhouse Hazel Green Trojans, 80-56. Hazel Green is ranked sixth in the state in Class 6A ball.
The Trojans were up 25-13 at the end of the first quarter.
Lincoln County won the second period, 18-13, and trailed 38-31 at the break.
Hazel Green won the second half, 42-25, for the win.
Christian and B.J. Thomson led the scoring with 14. Hadley and Jones had 6; Ty Lewter, 5; Talley-Hyde, Jaquez Thompson and Blackwell, 3; Riley Malone, 2.
The Falcons were 11 of 27 in the paint and 9 of 20 from the arch. From the line, LCHS was 7 of 15.
For their next action, Lincoln County wraps up the district regular season hosting Tullahoma on Tuesday, then travels to Columbia on Friday. Games start at 6 p.m.
