Officials voted Tuesday to defer action on proposed increases in the City of Fayetteville’s sanitation rates until consideration during an upcoming strategic planning meeting.
The motion to defer until the planning session, expected to be held in upcoming weeks, was made by Alderman Dorothy Small and seconded by Alderman Marty Pepper. The motion passed unanimously. Action then could be taken in March.
The proposed increase would see sanitation rates, or garbage collection fees, increase by $4 each month, going from $10 to $14 per for residents and from $15 to $19 for businesses. Fayetteville Housing Authority residents would see an increase from $8 or $10 a month to $12.
