The City of Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department will be holding an Umpiring Clinic for anyone interested or who plans to umpire in the Youth Baseball League for the upcoming season.
The clinic will consist of four classes. The dates for these are Feb. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at the Rec Center.
All classes will begin at 1:30 p.m. and last about two hours.
The classes will consist of classroom instruction and on-the-field sessions. There will be several different instructors for these classes.
Rickey Honey, recreation director, strongly recommends that anyone interested in umpiring should attend these classes.
“We had several issues to come up this past season that we hope with this clinic will not happen again,” Honey said.
“A few of the topics that will be discussed will be league rules, dress requirements and any other issues that pertain to being an umpire.”
All coaches are strongly recommended to attend the classes, Honey noted.
