Austin Lockard of Fayetteville, indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury in December in connection with the death of a local man last August, is in custody at the Lincoln County Jail.
Lockard had failed to appear for arraignment on Dec. 18. He was taken into custody on New Year’s Eve by Transport Officer John Nichols.
Lockard, 18, of 63 McDougal Road, was charged with vehicular homicide, one count of reckless homicide, two counts of failure to render aid and two counts of failure to appear.
Authorities contend that Lockard left Bradley Joe Durham, 21, of Fayetteville on the side of Highway 110 to die after Durham was ejected from Lockard’s moving vehicle on Sunday evening, Aug. 19.
Lockhard is being held at the Lincoln County Jail without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court this week.
