Warren, head of Elk Yarn Mill, dies
James Levoy Warren of Fayetteville, former plant manager at Elk Yarn Mill, died Saturday afternoon (Jan. 5, 2013) in Huntsville Hospital. He was 86.
A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Warren was the son of the late James R. and Lena Brown Warren.
He was retired plant manger at Elk Yarn Mill, where he was employed for 49 years, served in the Army in WWII and was a very active member of the Lions Club from 1980 until 2007, holding many offices.
Mr. Warren was also a member of the Kelso Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as elder and pianist. He was an accomplished musician and loved playing for the church, as well as his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mattielou Johnson Warren of Fayetteville; nephew, Willie Burton Rives of Fayetteville; nieces, Reba Norman of Fayetteville and Joyce McBride of Oklahoma.
Mr. Warren was preceded in death by brothers, Oddie Warren, George Warren and Willie T. Warren, and sisters, Ezella Warren and Gladys Rives.
Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Kirk Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Humane Society.
