Fayetteville High School’s Lady Tigers took a tough loss in their first game following the New Year.
The ladies went down to Forrest, 41-33.
With six girls dressed as Kerry Brown remains sidelined with injury, the depth of the Lady Tigers continues to become a key factor late in the game. The Lady Rockets had 15 in uniform.
Fayetteville trailed 15-14 at the break.
With 4:43 in the third, Tamia Baker nailed a 3-pointer, putting the ladies up 21-18. But, in their next possession, Forrest hit a three and knotted it again at 21. Baker added another from the arch with 1:23 in the period, but the ladies trailed 27-24 at the end of the quarter.
At the 1:43 mark in the fourth, it was a three-point ball game with Fayetteville trailing 36-33.
But, the Lady Rockets made the shots from the line down the stretch to finish with the win.
Trevah Thompson led for the ladies with 12 points. Tamia Baker had 9; Paeshence Thompson, 5; Jasmine Parks, 4; and Lexie Horton scored 3.
Fayetteville hit four from the arch with Baker nailing three and Horton one.
From the line, the ladies were 7 of 16. The Lady Rockets were 8 of 11.
For their next action, Fayetteville will travel to Huntland on Tuesday before hosting Eagleville on Friday. Game times are at 6 p.m.
