Eva Joy Bailey, 81, of Ardmore, died Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2012) at Ardmore on Main in Ardmore. Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Hughes and Bro. William Suddarth officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery. Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Gene Landess Muse, 92, of Carthage, formerly of Fayetteville, died Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2012) in the Life Care Center of Sparta. A native of Lincoln County, Mrs. Muse was the daughter of the late Eugene Shofner and Elizabeth Anderson Landess. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, former employee of CFW Construction Company and a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Jane Wakefield of Carthage, Marilou Hillenbrand and husband, Stephen, of Knoxville and Barbara Muse of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Robert Muse and wife, Vickie, of Cookeville; six grandchildren, Jimmy Young and wife, Laura, Amanda Owen and husband, Jeff, Laurel Watkins and husband, Steven, Boone Hillenbrand, Jessica Cundiff and husband, Jeff, Meredith Petralia; 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside service were conducted Friday afternoon at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ann Hatcher officiating. Burial was beside her husband, Robert Paul Muse, who passed away in 1987. Memorial donations may be made to the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Hobbs “Dot” Smith, 75, of Elkmont, Ala., died Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2012) at Donalson Care Center. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Ala., with Tony Boles officiating. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery. Jean Quick Strope, 65, of Fayetteville, died Monday (Dec. 17, 2012) at her residence. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen McCollum Quick. Mrs. Strope was a cosmetologist and a member of the Riverside Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, James Strope of Fayetteville; three daughters, Jessica Honey, Emily King (Michael) and Julia Townsend, all of Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren, Morgan Honey, Kennedy Honey, Spencer King, Garrett Honey, Emma King, Ella Townsend, Abby Honey, Conner Townsend, Olivia Honey and Jacob King; three sisters, Patsy Adkins (Doug) of Fayetteville, Dean Slayton of Fayetteville, Patricia Jacobs (Steve) of Fayetteville; two brothers, Harold Quick (Angeline) of Fayetteville, Glenn Quick (Belinda) of Hazel Green, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Travis Creasy officiating. Burial followed in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens.
