Lincoln County High School’s Lady Falcons picked up a win on the road last week. The ladies won at the wire, 46-43, over Coffee County’s Lady Red Raiders, improving their overall record to 7-2.

LCHS got off to a quick start, up 12-7, at the end of the first quarter.

But, the Lady Raiders hit a shot at the buzzer, winning the second frame, 13-10, with the Lady Falcons on top, 22-18, at the break.

With 3:08 in the third, McKinley Slayton hit a 3-pointer that put the ladies up 32-21 for their largest lead of the night. But, Coffee County began chipping away at the margin, and the Lady Falcons went cold. At the end of three, LCHS was up 32-28.

At the 5:48 mark in the fourth, the Lady Raiders knotted it at 34-34. With 1:38, Cortney Storey put the ladies up 43-40. With 33 seconds remaining in the game, Coffee County took advantage of a Lady Falcon turnover on an inbound pass, hitting their only 3-pointer of the night – it was tied at 43-43.

In the ladies’ final possession, Elizabeth Faulkner hit a 3-pointer from the corner that was all net with three seconds on the clock. The Lady Falcons had the win, 46-43.

Storey led for LCHS with 14 points. Morgan Higgins added 11; Faulkner finished with 8; Khaila King, 7; Slayton, 3; Reilly Watson, 2; and Whitney Graham scored 1.

Lincoln County was 15 of 30 from the paint and 3 of 17 from the arch with Faulkner having 2 and Slayton, 1. From the line, the ladies were 7 of 9 with Storey going 4 for 4.

Coffee County won the boards, 34-28. The ladies had 15 turnovers to 19 for the Lady Red Raiders.

For their next action, the Lady Falcons were to travel to Marshall County on Monday. Over the Christmas holidays, the ladies will be playing in the Huntsville Times Classic held at Bob Jones High School, matching up in their first game with Athens on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
