Can-a-thon underway for Provision Port

Donations of canned goods will be accepted on the parking lot at Walmart Thursday, Dec. 6, from 4:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. for the benefit of Provision Port here in Fayetteville.

Provision Port, in partnership with Channel 48 in the drive, will use the canned goods to help those in need on the local level.

“This is a Tennessee Valley wide event that helps groups collect much-needed food items to distribute to those who are in need,” said Danny Pigg, Provision Port’s board president. “We ask that everyone participate in this wonderful cause.

“Every food item donated is very much needed to assure none of our friends or families have to go to bed hungry,” he continued. “Any cash donation is used to purchase food that is not donated and is tax deductible.”

Provision Port is operated by volunteers, and there are no salaries paid. If your group would like to hold your own food drive, please contact Provision Port for details on most needed dates.
